Primary intent

Modernize the kitchen without stripping the Craftsman character out of the home.

Best upgrade

Inset-style cabinetry and period hardware paired with updated electrical capacity.

Budget control

Focused custom work where it preserved the home style, not on trendy extras.

Daily value

Better appliance support, durable counters, and storage that fits the architecture.

The Challenge

Beautiful Craftsman home with a kitchen that hadn't been updated since the 1980s. The homeowners wanted to honor the home's character while bringing the kitchen into the modern era. Old wiring couldn't support modern appliances.

Our Solution

We designed custom Craftsman-style inset cabinets with period-appropriate hardware. Installed honed granite countertops, hand-glazed subway tile, a farmhouse sink, and upgraded the entire electrical panel. New hardwood flooring matched the original throughout the home.

Contractor Notes

What Homeowners Should Learn From This Remodel

These are the details that separate a clean remodeling plan from a vague quote.

Older-home sequencing

When a kitchen has older wiring, the electrical plan has to be settled before cabinets. Outlet placement, appliance load, lighting, and panel capacity can change the final layout.

Design restraint

A character home can look worse if every finish is ultra-modern. We used modern durability but kept cabinet proportions and hardware aligned with the house.

How to compare a bid like this

Ask whether floor patching, cabinet installation tolerances, electrical panel work, backsplash edges, and appliance hookups are included.
